Maritime

NZA has defended boat owners, providers, and operators in connection with accidents and losses on waterways. These cases range from property damage to personal injury and drownings. Among our recent results include successfully defending multiple cases involving drownings when a recreational boat sank in Lake Michigan, near Chicago.

Trucking

We have represented many trucking companies involved in lawsuits around the country for catastrophic injuries and death. We are experienced in federal laws pertaining to hours of service and means by which trucking companies attempt to monitor these limits and ensure compliance.

We have lectured to companies in the U.S. and Canada on these laws and the impact on trucking litigation. An example of the value we bring to such cases was our defense of a number of death and serious injury cases involving a collision between a truck and multiple vehicles at a Canadian/U.S. border checkpoint in upstate New York. We were able to successfully resolve all claims, saving the clients tens of millions of dollars in trial exposure and more than $10 million in reserves.

Buses

Our partners have defended large national bus carriers and their bus manufacturers in many wrongful death and personal injury lawsuits throughout Illinois. Our work in trucking and bus accidents has made us adept at working with CDL, traffic safety, accident reconstruction, and mechanical engineering experts in various parts of the country. We have served as trial counsel for a large national bus transportation company.

Trains

We have defended railroads against personal injury actions (FELA) and cargo losses. We have been brought in to take over and try large exposures involving train workers. NZA lawyers get involved in transportation cases at all levels and claims, including:
